About Banff and Lake Louise
This world renowned ski area offers uncrowded slopes, abundant snowfall, two vibrant resort towns and three incredible mountains (Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise Ski Resort & Mt Norquay) – all within the picturesque Banff National Park and accessible on one lift pass. Explore almost 8,000 acres of skiable terrain.
Lake Louise Ski Resort is the largest ski area, offering 4,200 acres, and is also one of the most photographed destinations in the Rockies due to the uniquely beautiful terrain. It’s a 45 minute drive from Banff but is worth it for the vast and varied terrain.
Ski Banff Sunshine with over 3,300 acres of terrain and the novel opportunity to ski or ride in both the province of Alberta and British Columbia on the same run. This area is renowned for receiving the most snow of the three ski areas.
Mt. Norquay is often referred to as ‘the local’s mountain’ because of its proximity to the town. While this area may be the smallest it offers terrain for all levels and night skiing, including the only lit terrain park in North America.
Accommodation
Accommodation options are available in Banff, Sunshine Village and Lake Louise. The town of Banff offers good value accommodation in a central location, great if you want to be close to the bars and restaurants. Sunshine Village is the only ski-in/ski-out accommodation in the area while Lake Louise is more removed, offering secluded luxury hotels and romantic lodges. There is no central village area in Lake Louise, therefore guests tend to eat, drink and relax in their hotels.

How to get there
Fly
The closest airport is Calgary. When flying from Australia one stopover is required, the fastest route is to Vancouver (YVR) and then onto Calgary (YYC). Flight time is approximately 14 hours to Vancouver and 1h 20mins from Vancouver to Calgary. Vancouver makes a great stopover, we love spending a couple of days exploring the city before heading to the slopes.
