ALBERTA SKI SAFARI

The best way to experience all Alberta has to offer

Breathtaking views, three iconic ski destinations and an unforgettable experience. We’d recommend a 7 – 14 night stay to allow enough time to explore these 3 iconic areas.

Jasper

Japser Marmot Basin Knob

Day 1

Arrive in Jasper and take in the stunning views on offer, make sure to have a phone or camera on you at all times so picture perfect moments (which are all too common in Jasper). Once you’ve settled into your room at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge we recommend a relaxed dinner fireside at Emerald Lounge. After dinner head outside for star gazing in one of the world’s largest dark sky preserves while enjoying s’mores around the fire.

Day 2

Today is when you get to test out those ski or snowboarding skills! Catch the free Fairmont shuttle to Marmot Basin. Located just 25 minutes from the Fairmont, Marmot Basin offers over 1,675 acres of skiable terrain. Large, snow filled bowls and wide groomed trails will keep all levels of ability happy. In the afternoon, treat your tired body to a long (and well-earned) soak in the hot tub. If you’re looking for something a little more lively head to the Ice Bar for a couple of aprés ski drinks.

Day 3

Hit the slopes for another half day discovering all Marmot Basin has to offer, or if you’re in the mood for something less strenuous why not head to the town of Jasper to test out the food and drink scene (trust us, you won’t be disappointed!). Mid-afternoon, begin the three hour drive to Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The drive between Jasper and Lake Louise is rated as one of the top ten drives in the world by National Geographic so make sure to have your camera on hand!

After arrival at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise settle down for a dinner at your choice of restaurant including traditional fondue, fine dining or a relaxed pub atmosphere.

Other recommended activities in Jasper, all available to book through Skimax:

  • Maligne Canyon Ice walk
  • Winter wildlife Tour
  • Dogsledding

Day 4

Wake up to world famous views of the frozen Lake Louise where you can ice skate through an ice castle or soak up the views with a drink in hand at the ice bar. On your first morning, enjoy breakfast before getting in a full day skiing or snowboarding at Lake Louise Ski Resort. A 10 minute shuttle will take you straight to the mountain, where 4,200 acres of skiable terrain is waiting for you. Lake Louise Resort is vast and varied with endless chutes, glades, cruisers and remote bowls for you to explore.

In the afternoon, grab yourself an aprés drink at the bottom of the slopes. The Powder Keg is a personal favourite of ours; make sure to try the Bagel Skins! Top it all off with a moonlit snowshoeing tour back at the Fairmont.

Day 5

Spend another day exploring the expansive Lake Louise Ski Resort. The unique layout with beginner, intermediate and expert runs means that every chair allows all varying levels to ski together. Once at the top, you’ll see why Lake Louise is rated as one of the most scenic ski areas in the world. Before nightfall make your way 45 minutes east to your final stop, Fairmont Banff Springs.

Day 6

Awake in Canada’s castle in The Rockies and enjoy a breakfast buffet fit for a king or Queen in the Bow Valley Grill. After breakfast, the shuttle will take you to Sunshine Village, only 15 minutes’ drive from the Fairmont. Sunshine Village receives up to 9 metres of dry champagne powder every season and is renowned for its long season – November right through to May! Three sprawling mountains offer terrain for all levels of ability.

After a long day on the slopes relax at the Willow Stream spa or test your skills at the indoor bowling alley. Have dinner at one of 10 restaurants within Fairmont Banff Springs, or head into the town of Banff to check out the foodie scene there.

Day 7

It’s your final full day in Banff, pull back the curtains and take in those stunning views! After breakfast, head up Mt. Norquay to tick off your fourth and final ski resort. Since opening in 1926 Mt. Norquay continues to be the local’s gem, this small, family friendly resort really has something for everyone.

If you want a sleep in or a day to try some of the non-ski activities Banff offers , never fear! Mt. Norquay offers night skiing so you can do both.

Day 8

It’s departure day. Say goodbye to the beauty of the Canadian Rockies and make your way to Calgary for your flight home.
