Kiroro is an up-and-coming resort with uncrowded slopes, more powder than Niseko and arguably some of the best tree skiing in Japan. This modern ski resort was built in 1991 and is located just two hours from New Chitose Airport in Sapporo. Kiroro is located 1 hour from Niseko so makes for a great addition to a Hokkaido powder tour.
Spread over two peaks the pistes are varied and well-groomed, but the real appeal of Kiroro ski holidays is its Powder Zone and off-piste - the backcountry was recently opened up, with three designated points giving easy access. For the best powder skiing, we usually head for the trees. Kiroro is based around the two main hotels rather than a village, there is also the Mountain Centre at the base of the slopes, with a ski rental shop, café and kids’ area.
