About Perisher
Perisher boasts the most expansive ski terrain in Australia – a whole 3076 acres, making it the largest resort in the Southern Hemisphere.
The mountain is made up of four areas – Perisher, Smiggins, Blue Cow and Guthega and caters to all levels, from beginners to advance. Perisher has a wide array of restaurants, shops and bars located on and off the slopes; a must try is Top Spot Bar in Blue Cow Restaurant. When Mother Nature isn’t providing the goods Perisher has it covered with impressive snow making technology and a large fleet of groomers.
Accommodation
There is no real village at Perisher, so there are great, but few, ski-in/ski-out accommodation options. Alternatively, accommodation is available in nearby town Jindabyne, located just 30 minute drive from the mountain. Get in touch with the Skimax team to find which option best suits you.

Drive
Getting to the mountains from Sydney is an easy drive on the Eastern Distributor, with only a few sets of traffic lights to Perisher. From Melbourne, the fully sealed Kosciuszko Alpine Way is your scenic window as you wind through the spectacular Kosciuszko National Park.
Distance & driving times from major cities:
Sydney 5 - 6 hrs
Melbourne 5.5 - 7 hrs
Canberra 2.5 hrs
When you arrive at Bullocks Flat Terminal, you'll find free day and overnight parking and because it is located below the snow fall levels, you generally won't require chains. You also don't need to purchase the National Parks entry fee. You can then take the Skitube up to Perisher Mountain. Overnight parking is not available at Perisher, some accommodation venues do offer it, however it must be pre-booked and charges apply.
If driving right up to Perisher chains may be required for 2 wheel drives. Chains can be hired in Jindabyne and Khancoban. When hiring they will need to know your tyre size and be sure to ask them about any fitting tips. For up to date road conditions please call the RTA traffic information line on 132 701. Select option 1 for road closures from storms, snow and ice etc and then option 1 again for Southern NSW. This will take you straight to the conditions for the Snowy Mountains. If in the local area tune to 2XL or 97.7 Snow FM for regular updates.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service collect park use fees upon entry to the park (when driving past Bullocks Flat Terminal). The cost is $29 per vehicle for 24 hours. You can find more information here.
